Tenerife Dive Sites: Barranco Seco Arch
Los Gigantes Diving Centre

* Maximum Depth: 5 - 18 meters (this site does continue to 35m, see dive barranco seco 2 (Los Roncadores))
* Suitable for: All levels of qualified divers
* Travel time from dive centre: 8 minutes

At anchor beneath the cliffs, a glance upwards is a truly awe-inspiring sight, and a glimpse downwards shows the top of an archway five metres below the boat; the perfect place for a safety stop at the end of the dive.

There is a heavy covering of bright red and yellow sponges on the underside of the arch and a small cavern adjacent where rays or lobsters might be found lurking. Over the past year we have been observing the growth of 2 new black corals growing in the area. Usually, black coral lives in depths of over 25 metres so we are fortunate to see them growing in only 8 metres: do not forget to charge those camera batteries to capture the moment.

Marine life thrives on this site, with several different species of stingray willingly posing for photos, as well as shoaling fish, Moray eels and Octopus.

Barranco Seco Arch is one of our most popular dive sites, in fact divers often request a second visit. Its also an ideal site for those of you who have not dived for a while and for students nearing the end of their PADI Open Water or BSAC Ocean diver course.
