Tenerife Dive Sites: Alcala Deep - Los Gigantes Diving Centre

A highlight for many a diving holiday, one of our more challenging dives is a puzzling and extensive formation of ridges and gullies which rises majestically out of the depths.

We descend to the top of one of the ridges in 15 - 18 metres of water, then progress into the narrow gullies, some of which drop down to 40 metres and more. Exposed to the full force of tidal streams, shelter from the current can be found in the grand gullies, the walls of which are undercut and offer homes to many varieties of Moray Eel, anemone and large groupers.

Due to the depth, the distance offshore and the possibility of currents, this site is restricted to advanced divers who have recent experience. Sometimes this dive is done as a drift dive and an SMB is an essential safety item.
