This course will provide you with the essential knowledge and skills needed to prepare for open Water diving. Learning to dive is all about learning to use your equipment properly and safely. The Ocean Diver training course concentrates on preparing you for this in the safety of a swimming pool or sheltered water and then introducing you to Open Water in a controlled and safe manner. This also gives you the opportunity to practice safety skills in the company of a qualified instructor.
What is BSAC Ocean Diver? An Ocean Diver is defined as a diver who is competent to conduct dives: with another Ocean Diver or with a Sports Diver, within the restrictions of the conditions already encountered during their training with a Dive leader, or higher grade, to expand their experience beyond the conditions encountered during their training, under the supervision of a Dive Marshal. To a depth which is initially limited to the maximum experienced during training, but which can subsequently be extended progressively under the supervision of a Nationally Qualified Instructor to a maximum of 20 m. Not requiring mandatory safety stops. Under the on-site supervision of a Dive Marshall with respect to site selection, conditions and dive plan. Where other divers, capable of providing assistance and rescue, are available at the surface. Within BSAC safe diving practice recommendations
What do I need to start? Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can achieve the Ocean Diver certification.
What will I do? Throughout the course, you'll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You earn this qualification by completing seven classroom lessons, a theory assessment, a basic swimming assessment, five sheltered water lessons, and five open water lessons.
How long will it take? This course is performance based. You proceed as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. This allows you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you. Generally, we find that the course can be completed in between four and five days.
What is included in the course fees? BSAC Ocean Diver Training Pack - including The Diving Manual, Ocean Diver Student Notes, Binder and Qualification Certificate.
Where can I go from here? After completing your Ocean Dive course, you'll want to continue your dive education and gain diving experience. There is no better way to do this than by joining the "Biggest Diving Club in the World" The British Sub Aqua Club. For a full list of branches and benefits dive in to BSAC website
