“Los Chuchos is the Spanish name for “the stingrays”, and this is one of the most popular dive sites on Tenerife. The site was established by Nev Widdrington at the beginning of 1996. It is now so well established that large numbers of stingrays and eagle rays are attracted and will gently take food from the hand of a diver. The site has been featured in several magazine articles, both in the UK and internationally. Some of our customers have dubbed this site “Stingray Village”, as they put it, “why go all the way to Cayman Brac when you can have the same thrill on Europe’s doorstep”. As many as six different species of Ray have been seen in one dive and occasionally we are blessed by a visit from a rare and elusive Bull Ray. The nature of the site means that large pelagics and predators such as barracuda, jacks and tuna are also frequently seen. Who knows what may make an appearance!!! A depth of 18 -20 metres makes it a site suitable for all qualified divers with recent experience. |
