Because of the depth and the possible currents at this site it is restricted to advanced divers only. Sometimes this dive is done as a drift dive.
Alcala Deep, a favorite for many, is an extensive and confusing area of lava ridges, the top of which is 15 - 18 metres deep and in some parts we can descend into narrow gullies, some of which drops down to 40 metres and more. Once among the gullies we are out of the current. The walls of the gullies are undercut and offer homes to many varieties of moray eel, anemone and large groupers.
